Shaun specialises in environmental communications and marketing to help advance awareness about the threat of climate crisis.

Hugely experienced in the craft of storytelling, he had an award-winning career in journalism reporting on many global events and served as a war correspondent covering conflicts in the Balkans and West Africa and the plight of fleeing refugees.

He worked as an investigative reporter, news editor and editor for a range of national news titles and websites, and led the transition to digital for many newsrooms.

He was Editor for the pioneering STV Local journalism network, empowering and giving a voice to local communities in the face of dwindling local democracy and has championed the use of remote working for journalists to ensure a people focused approach to work-life balance.

A contributor to BBC and Talk Radio programmes, he was also launch co-host of popular media podcast Quiet News Day.

One of Scotland’s best-known media operators, he helps audit and accredits journalism training courses at universities and delivers talks and lectures by invitation. He also helps with media training for charities and other organisations.

He worked as PR & Digital Media Director for a leading international marketing and events agency, helping evolve their UK and Norway-centred communications strategies and co-founded a multiple award-winning design and publishing house which included renewable energy firms Scottish Power and Iberdrola among its clients.

Writing about the climate crisis for more than a decade he was founding publisher of ecoforyou, Europe’s first digital magazines dedicated to the environment, and volunteers as editor of climate news website planetunplugged.com which he founded, and the dedicated COP26 digital hub theglasgowagreement.org

He is also the founding director of environmental and well-being centred communications agency Skog Media Associates.
