John is an experienced ornithologist and fieldworker having worked in wildlife conservation/ecology and research for over 15 years.
His work has been based mainly in the UK and Ireland but has taken him as far away as Tasmania.
After working a few seasons as a warden in North Wales and Ireland, he spent several years working as an ornithological surveyor on various onshore wind farm renewable energy projects throughout Scotland and England.
For the past five years, he has been working with the RSPB investigations team, focusing on the prevention of wildlife crime throughout Scotland.
He has a Masters Res. Ecology and Environmental Biology from the University of Glasgow and BSc (Hons.) Geography from John Moores University Liverpool.
His most recent project work involved working on the RSPB Hen Harrier Life project as a project fieldworker, radio tracking/satellite tag monitoring of various raptor species around the UK, undertaking surveillance, monitoring, and protection of raptors in Scotland and England and ornithological surveys for onshore wind farms including breeding bird, vantage point and species specific surveys.
He has also conducted farmland bird surveys for the RSPB and is experienced in radio tracking Tasmanian Devils.Our team
