Alex is a qualified and experienced wildlife biologist, project manager, writer, and conservationist with extensive employment and academic experience in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Southern and Eastern Africa, and South and Central America.
He holds an MSc, in Wildlife Biology and Conservation from Edinburgh Napier University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Management from University of Auckland and an MA (Hons.) Geography and Politics awarded at University of Edinburgh.
Extensively travelled, he is experienced in a range of international conservation work.
Skilled in Community Engagement and Ecological Restoration, he worked as a Senior Ranger for the Department of Conservation in Canterbury, New Zealand.
His Project Management in Conservation experience was gained in part as Project Manager of the Big Cats, Primates and Turtles Conservation Project on the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica.
He worked in Eco-Tourism in Scotland as Managing Director of Wild Tours Scotland and developed his expertise in Eco-Tourism as an Eco-Tour Guide in Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia and is experienced in Countryside Management after working as a Countryside Ranger for the Highland Council Ranger Service in Caithness and Sutherland.
His Ecological Restoration credentials include working at Desroches Island, Seychelles as Conservation Officer for the Island Conservation Trust.
Alex also has significant Species Conservation and Monitoring Experience in Scotland, New Zealand, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Seychelles and South Africa and was involved in Live Game Capture with Wildlife Translocation Services in Northern Cape, South Africa.
